Wisdom Keeper Weekend 2010
A wonderful time!
On April 24-25, 2010 Joan Henry and Jon Delson mounted Wisdom Keeper Weekend, an amazing two-day event at the beautiful Blue Deer Center in the Catskill Mountains of upstate NY. Friday night was a concert entitled To Sing Our World New Every Morning with guest artists Gus Mancini and Cassondra Madera. The concert included age-old ancestral songs from many traditions, and a few concert versions from Joan’s CDs. Of particular interest was Joan’s illustrative introductions to each song that helped explain its origin and meaning. A highlight of the evening was a vibrant and energetic re-telling of a Coyote story from Joan’s story-telling tradition.
THE INVITATION:
To Sing Our World New Every Morning
All are welcome to experience glimpses of the soul of Native America on a musical journey from ancient to modern, and from traditional to contemporary, as hahesh’kah, Joan Henry, shares songs of daily life from all over Turtle Island. She will be assisted by her halfside, Jon Delson, and longtime friend Gus Mancini. It is Joan’s prayer that she does honor to Tsimilano (Musqueam), Shanadii (Jicarilla) and those left unnamed, by continuing the work they gave her to do for the People, and for the coming generations.

SATURDAY:
On Saturday morn a number of folks regathered inside the spacious and welcoming yurt at Blue Deer Center for a half-day of teachings entitled The Healing Power of Song, progressing more deeply into the nature of song and the rhythms that permeate our life through the use of our voice, musical instruments, and our heartsong.
